Reconciliation can be hard

We heard God’s Word from Second Corinthians: “So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.” In this I hear an invitation for us all: we are reconciled to God, so let us be reconciled with one another. Reconciliation can be hard. When we have hurt others, it takes courage to admit our fault and to lovingly repair the damage. When others have hurt us, it takes courage to grieve what could have been and offer forgiveness. And when we’ve hurt ourselves, it takes courage to move forward in the same kind of newness. So take courage! Though brokenness and division are easily found these days, I believe that so might reconciliation be found - even if we find it challenging. May we be courageous with ourselves and with others; may we choose to love, choose to forgive, and choose to reconcile, for indeed we are reconciled to God and we are one in Christ. Thanks be to God!

 In Christ, Pastor Aaron
