WALKING TOGETHER
IN RECONCILIATION
Join us at Advent Lutheran Church on Sunday, August 30th for a special Camp Sunday exploring what the land means to us, walking together, and reconciliation.
We’re excited to welcome Layne Kilbreath and Alphonse Nepoose from Walk As We, a Calgary ministry focused on building relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people through education, community, and reconciliation. Together, we’ll hear about their ministry, reflect on our relationship with the land, revisit our land acknowledgement, and give children and youth opportunities to share their own thoughts through conversation and small-group activities.
Children, youth, and families from across our congregations are warmly invited to join us!
We start off with a brief gathering together at 9:30 AM before heading into worship.
In worship, the kids and youth play an active role in the service by reading, greeting, and assisting with communion. We also often have them put on a skit for the congregation! The service music is fun and upbeat for the young people to sing and dance along.
Afterward, we take on a service project, either within the congregation or out in the wider community.
Lunch is provided by our generous volunteers and we all eat together for some fellowship.
Participants will then enjoy crafts, games, and time together before heading out at 1:30 PM to enjoy the rest of their Sunday.
Youth are welcome to participate in all of the above activities, but there are also special activities organized for just youth. Think board games + chatting with friends!
